AtelierCologneReview.jpgHow often to do you buy a new bottle of perfume only to find out that it either the smell doesn't last or is just too weak to start off with?

Alot.

Which sort of translates into: You've-just-wasted-upwards-of-$80-on-overpriced-flower-water.

I just got the scoop on a new line called Atelier Cologne from Founder, Sylvie Ganter, (of FRESH and Hermes fame). Sylvie told me, all of their fragrances are consider "cologne absolue" which means it is 12-20% concentration of the scent.

AmorePacificnyc.jpgSecret: I'm dealing with the joy of a serious PMS breakout.

Pimples.

You know, those wretched little cystic bitches that emerge during that special time of the month? They dont break the surface, causing ugly red bumps all over your face, so not glamorous.

So last night, during Spindustry & my evening "mask-a-thon", I decided to try something new, AmorePacific's Clarifying Mask.

The directions say you use this product as a traditional mask; or, as an overnight treatment to clear isolated pimps.

(I recently went to Amore Pacific's spa where I OD'd on a little too many beauty products - and have been meaning to try this since.)

I dabbed the mask onto the problem area, woke up & found my little bumpy friends almost gone. With another dose tonight, I'm sure I'll be good as new.

Needless to say, I left my house apt doing the happy dance.

On a more serious note; there are tons of 'zit-zapping' products on the market, the issue with most of them is that they will dry the hell out of your skin, which, esp. during the harshness of winter, is never a good idea.

What's refreshing about this clay mask is what is doesn't have in it: Sulfates, Synthetic Dyes (it's a white mask), Petro-Chemicals and Phthalates.

The mask is $50, but totally worth it.

FlirtTheVeronicas.jpgTwin-sister pop sensations, Jessica and Lisa Origliassol, known to you as 'The Veronicas', have teamed up with Flirt! Cosmetics to become the ambassadors for their new fragrance, Rock-N-Rebel.

So, back to Rock-N-Rebel...

Rock-N-Rebel is the new fragrance from Flirt! (available now in at Kohl's).

I was invited to try the fragrance before it went out to the masses, and I'm in love with it.

(No, I'm not just saying that...)

It has hints of apple nectar, pink grapefruit, and white lotus blossom. The scent is fun and flirty (no pun intended); but more importantly, makes you feel light and sex-a-licious.

So, why The Veronicas? Well the famous pop group are not just famous for their music & for creating all of their own costumes & makeup; but, they recently launched a cosmetics line as part of their Rock-N-Rebel debut.

Want to meet the Veronicas? Flirt is doing a contest here.

Anyway, to get back to the free good shit, we want you to win this!

Happy Commenting!

Giftbox.jpgAlright Moosies (and Fellas) Valentine's Day is right around the corner.

Since the close proximity, I'm sure you've dropped hints about what you'd like to receive.

Or, if you're like me, you're pretty direct and do the this-is-what-I-want-so-please-don't buy-me-something-I have-to-pretend-to-like.

Now, considering I'm in the I-fucking-hate-Vday-cuz-I'm-single club, that doesn't mean I don't look around and think "Gee, If had a man, this is what I would want," because I do.

Some of the classic treasures that I love, that I think some of you might too?

Let me share...

I came across this whimsical jewelry designer Cristina Vitiello; her company is Cristina V, and her designs are fabulously perfect.

Elyse & I perused the site & here are our picks:

MistiSchindeleOpenLetter.jpgDear Manhattan Retailers,

When I tell people that I live in Manhattan, I say it's the greatest place on earth.

What's not to love?

The theaters, galleries, men, restaurants, all make this city, what Barnum & Bailey coin: "the greatest show place on earth".

After giving this answer, it's at this point, when my hometown Denver folk, usually say: "UM... AND THE SHOPPING!?"

Me: "NO."

New York is one of the major fashion capitals of the world, so any twenty-something woman must love it, right?

NO, not me.

Here's my gripe: The Big Apple has thousand of stores, catering to all fancies, but if you're like me, and over a size 16 (or 12 for that matter), you are shit out of luck.

EnpointeReviews.jpgOne thing I've noticed since moving to New York 3 years ago, is that my 'old skin care' products weren't cutting it out here (breakouts, dry flaky skin, uneven skin tone, etc...).

For the last couple of years I have, systematically, been trying to find a skin care product that can keep up with the gritty streets on New York.

I was recently given a chance to try Dr. Christine Rodgers, En Pointe Skin Solutions.

Dr. Christine Rodgers, is a plastic surgeon, as well as breast cancer survivor; the women she met in her field, as well in her time of duress, inspired her start the skin care line.

En Pointe is formulated to respond to our skins stressors that contribute to lines, pigmentation, redness & irritation.

The product line looks girly & whimsical, as Dr. Rodgers has a life-long passion for ballet (hence the name), her story made me want to try; the packaging did not.

$25Tuesdays.jpgI've just stumbled across one of the best deals EVER.

$25 Tuesdays.

This little web jewel brings us prezzies every Tuesday.

$25 Tuesdays features a new spa deal, every Tuesday for $25 (duh).

The deal is different every week, and you have 24hrs to purchase the deal.

After your purchase, you have up to 1 year to use it (!).

Want an example? Yesterday's deal was $25 for a 60 min foot reflexology session.

Great bargains that would normally cost a fortune!!

CupcakeStop.com.jpgI LOVE CUPCAKES. To me there is nothing better than being on the run & having a quick cupcake snacky-poo. And trust me, when running around, I'm always on the lookout for a great cupcake.

Obviously, here in the city there are endless possibilities on finding cupcakes. And recently, I stumbled upon a traveling gem: Cupcake Stop.

(And pls. refrain from commenting about Magnolia's. Not a fan. Pricey & not a good frosting to cake ratio.)

So what is this Cupcake heaven you ask? It's NYC's first mobile gourmet cupcake truck. Yes, they travel to different spots around Manhattan selling splendid little bites of heaven.

It was a kismet: I was at work in SoHo, hungry, spotted the truck, and knew I had to try it.

This was my order: 3 mini red-velvet, 1 mini cookie crumb, and 1 mini triple chocolate.

(And btw: The Cupcake Stop's red velvet puts all other rv's I had to udder shame.)

AmorePacificSoHo.jpgI've said it before, but I'll say it again: To a Makeup Artist, skin care is #1 on our list of things to keep up with. After all, the skin is our canvas, therefore if you skin isn't 100% at it's best, neither is our work.

Now, a lot of people don't believe in getting facials on a regular basis. There are the excuses: i.e. "too busy", "too pricey", "washing 2x a time is enough", etc...

Well, guess what?

That's crap.

Just like your house needs a thorough cleaning, so does your skin.

Now, you can go to any local day spa and get your basic facial, but be warned: depending on who is doing the facial and what products they are using, it might not be much help.

I was recently invited to Amore Pacific in Soho for a facial using their Moisture Bound line. I've only heard good things about Amore Pacific, but hadn't tried their products till then.

Like most people in NYC, my skin gets all dry and flakey during the winter, so the Moisture Bound line seemed like a good thing to try.

Located on Spring St between Greene and Mercer, Amore Pacific serves as both a retail shop and a spa in the back. The facial rooms are ultra relaxing with comfortable beds and a semi-separate changing area.
